Constanza Camila Kramer Garfias
b. Viña del Mar, Chile, 1988 Lives and works in Munich, Germany
Constanza Camila Kramer Garfias is a Chilean, Munich-based artist whose practice centers on a critical engagement with textiles as both medium and subject, reflecting her bicultural background and dialogue with postcolonial theory. Rooted in a structural and historical examination of looms and weaving technologies, her approach pushes their algorithmic boundaries with deconstruction as a point of departure, while remaining open to experiment.
Garfias’ work is in public collections at the Kunstmuseum Bern (Bern, Switzerland); Anja and Matthias Ottmann Collection (Munich, Germany); Cash App Collection (St. Louis, MO & Philadelphia, PA, USA); Anne-Céline and Pierre Donnersberg Collection (Paris, France); and the Buchberger Collection (Munich, Germany). She has participated in institutional exhibitions at the American Tapestry Alliance at The Richard Peeler Art Center/DePauw University (Greencastle, IN, USA); Galerie der Künstler*innen (Munich, Germany); and Museum für Gestaltung (Zürich, Switzerland) and Takaoka Art Museum (Takaoka, Japan).
She and her work have been profiled in the Art and America New Talent Issue, ARTnews, Artsy, Flair Magazine, Cosmopolitan Germany, and more.
